Students,

We have almost concluded our study of the Jacksonian Era, a very significant period of American History.  As you study your notes and prepare for a short quiz in class on 4/23, there are several important events on which there will be test questions.
Here is a list of those events: The Era of Good Feelings, Monroe Doctrine, Missouri Compromise, Corrupt Bargain, Jacksonian Democracy, Radical Abolitionists, Tariff of Abominations, and the Trail of Tears.

Now for some reminders.  Bring your completed quiz to class with you on 4/23.
Bring your homework assigned for 4/16 to class on 4/23–we did not finish our discussion of this material.
The video about Frederick Douglass is posted again for those of you who need to review it before our next class.

Be prepared to give your individual presentations in class on 4/26.

Lastly, think over our class discussion about PROTECTIVE TARIFFS.  Try to recall what protective tariffs protect and why protective tariffs played a role in creating the prosperous country called the United States.  Try to also recall how Jefferson’s Embargo against England helped build a manufacturing base in our country.  Finally, think about the importance of our PATENT law in motivating hard working, intelligent Americans to be creative and innovative.  The Disney video posted below will help you understand the creative and hard work piece.  The patent law made certain that entrepreneurs would profit from their own ideas. To understand these ideas it to understand our very successful economic system called CAPITALISM.

Have a great week.  And I look forward to hearing your presentations next week.
