This Gorgeous picture of a simple fall landscape was an excellent exercise to familiarize the students with chalk pastels and sneak in a bit of color theory too! They discovered how, unlike crayons, the colors easily blend together – how the smooth chalk can be bold and brilliant or soft and muted. They also learned how messy the dust from the pastel chalk can be!
In addition, this lesson served as an exercise in color theory as well as basic composition for the older students. Everyone was happy to see that applying a fixative to the drawings kept them from smudging as much.
I hope you all enjoy your child’s “Introduction to Fall.”
